Residents in Leeds will no longer have to pay a fee to the city council when they need to get rid of large items like furniture. This is because the Liberal Democrats (Lib Dems) have successfully pushed the city council, who were in charge of the fee, to get rid of it. This will hopefully reduce the amount of fly-tipping, which is when people leave large items on the street instead of disposing of them properly. The Lib Dems are also pushing for other changes, like making it free to get rid of DIY waste and having separate collection for glass and food waste.
The cost of living is getting higher, so people are worried. Labour councillors voted to make it even more expensive for people, but the Liberal Democrats will help fight the cost of living crisis by freezing council rents and ending unfair charges. They also have a plan to give people money back for their heating bills. Voting for Liberal Democrats will make sure our area has someone strong to fight for us.
The Leeds Liberal Democrats want to make parking free for shoppers and workers in Market towns, while making parking more expensive for people who work in the city centre. They plan to do this by submitting an amendment to the Leeds City Council Annual Budget meeting. They also want to study how they can make businesses reduce their employee car use.
The Leeds Liberal Democrats want the Council to show that they care about the needs of people who take the train for shorter trips, not just those who take it for longer trips. They want the Council to study the possibility of adding three new train stations to the area. These stations would help reduce the pressure on other stations that are too crowded. They also want the Council to know that these new stations have a lot of support from local people.
