Do you think it's right that your Labour council is putting up council house rents?
Like many of you, we are really concerned by the current cost of living crisis. We are seeing steep increases in the price of food, fuel and heating.
That’s why we are hugely disappointed that our Leeds Labour councillors not only voted against a proposal to freeze council rents but voted to increase rents by a massive 4.1% and service charges by 4.9%
Labour just aren’t up to the task of fighting the cost of living crisis and supporting our local residents.
The Liberal Democrats have a plan to combat the cost of living crisis. We would ease pressures on local residents by freezing council rents, and ending unfair charges for bin replacement and waste disposal.
Nationally we are calling for a one off windfall tax on the huge profits of oil and gas companies. This would see thousands of people getting £300 off their heating bills this year. We are also asking for a reduction in VAT, and cancelling the planned national insurance increase.
This year’s council budget has once again shown that the Lib Dems are best placed to fight for real change in our community. Another Labour councillor will just vote as their bosses tell them to regardless of what they promise at election time.
Vote Lib Dem to make sure we have a strong voice who will stand up for our area
