Stop the Meanwood Junction Plans
The Council planning to rework the Meanwood Junction, we believe the current plans will cause confusion and rat running in residential streets. A key part of the plan is to prevent traffic from turning right from Green Lane (leaving waitrose onto the junction) and re-routing this traffic down Bentley Lane. Also in the plans is banning the right turn from Monk Bridge road onto Meanwood Road, this will again cause traffic to be re-routed through the Monkbridge's and Bentley's.
During the public drop in consultation organised by the Liberal Democrat councillors, hundreds of people objected to the scheme. The council came back with minor changes to the plans involving adding more one way streets to an already confusing plan. Our petition to stop the Junction has also acquired hundreds of signatures showing the scale of public opposition to this scheme.

Here you can see the plans for the Junction as proposed. By clicking on the image (or here) you can see a full PDF copy of the plans as well.
- No right turn out of Green Road onto Meanwood Road - traffic (including no 51 bus) will access Meanwood Road via Stainbeck Avenue and will either turn right onto Bentley Avenue or Stainbeck Road.
- No right turn out of Monk Bridge Road onto Meanwood Road.
- No right turn out of Authorpe Road onto Stonegate Road.
- No left turn out of Meanwood Road onto Monk Bridge Road.
We belive that the council should listen to local residents and stop this plan that is uneeded and unwanted. The Liberal Democrats have opposed the plan from the beggining and will continue to do so until the shovels enter the ground.
