Professor A C Grayling to Address Leeds Public Meeting on Subject ‘Fighting For Europe’

May 16, 2017 11:55 PM

Leeds for Europe, a group campaigning for Britain to remain in the European Union, are hosting a public meeting at Leeds Civic Hall Council Chamber on 20 May. Titled 'Fighting for Europe' the meeting will be addressed by leading national anti-Brexit campaigner, Professor A C Grayling, and former Leeds MP Michael Meadowcroft.

Professor Grayling will be addressing the question: "Those of us who are keen to see the UK remain part of the EU need to target our fight carefully: how shall we do that, and when?"

After speaking, Professor Grayling and Michael Meadowcroft will take questions from the audience. Anyone wanting to put forward questions in advance of the meeting is invited to submit questions to info@leedsforeurope.org.

The meeting is just the latest in a series of events that the group have been involved in over the last few weeks. A previous meeting, addressed by Richard Corbett MEP and Professor Michael Dougan, an expert on European Law, was attended by around 100 members of the public. On 29 March, the day that the government triggered Article 50 commencing the process of the UK existing the EU, members of Leeds for Europe held a visible and noisy protest on the steps of Leeds Town Hall.

The meeting, 'Fighting For Europe', will be held on Saturday, 20 May starting at 2pm. Admission is free and the event is open to all.
