Councillor calls for better buses

Councillor Sandy Lay (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) has called upon First Bus to improve reliability of the 33A service.

The 33A, running from Otley to Leeds train station, connects residents in Horsforth, Rawdon, Yeadon and Guiseley and is a vital service for local residents.

However, due to the length of the route, it also encounters many of the bottlenecks that are created on the road network in Leeds, meaning long waits for passengers at bus stops are common.

Cllr Lay, with other local city councillors, will be meeting with First Bus' West Yorkshire Managing Director, Paul Matthews, on Thursday 26th January to explore options to increase the reliability of the service

Cllr Sandy Lay (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:

"I welcome the recent announcement from First on their increase of driver numbers for the X84, which should provide a much needed boost to that service's reliability.

"However, it is time to tackle the issues with the 33A service and I hope that the meeting we're having with First will help lay the groundwork for future improvements."
