Cllr Ryk Downes, Volunteer Champion for Leeds North West attended the official launch of Leeds Year of Volunteering yesterday (Wednesday 13th) at Leeds City Museum.

The launch was successful despite the bad weather and was attended by over 400 volunteers representing voluntary organisations across Leeds.

Councillor Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:

"I was delighted to attend the launch, it was great to see over 400 people from voluntary organisations across Leeds. I was so proud of them all coming despite the poor weather conditions.

"I'm looking forward to getting stuck into my new role and I hope everyone will join the events we are planning locally over the next year. Feel free to contact me if you would like to get involved."
