Councillors welcome improvements for streets in Woodhouse

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 28th Jul 2009

Ward councillors have welcomed the start of work to install 'pedestrian drop crossings' on St Mark's Road, Raglan Road and Craven Road in Woodhouse.

Cllr Penny Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said:

"These improvements will make it easier for those who need to use wheels, whether for a wheelchair, pram or shopping trolley, to get around the area and will be welcome to local residents."

Cllr Kabeer Hussain (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) added:

"While the work is scheduled to take up to the end of October we hope it won't cause too much disruption, hopefully it will finish early."
