Liberal Democrat Group on Leeds City Council

Faith forum to be held at Civic Hall

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 5th Jun 2009

The Lord Mayor of Leeds will give a civic welcome to fifteen faith group representatives from Hyde Park and Woodhouse.

The event organised by Cllr Penny Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park and Woodhouse)

will focus on how to improve community cohesion in the area through cross-cultural youth activities. It is hoped that an agreement will be made to open all youth groups to everyone regardless of their religion and give children and young people the chance to integrate with each other.

Cllr Ewens said:

"The ward I represent is full of different religious groups and organisations that each have programmes and activities for young people. I hope to make those activities and groups open to everyone regardless of their faith, promoting cross-cultural youth activities.

"I believe this has the potential to be a great step forward for our community. If anyone would like more information or would like to get involved please get in touch."
