Christmas comes early for Yeadon care home

12.00.00am GMT Wed 19th Nov 2008

Councillors Colin Campbell, Ryk Downes and Graham Kirkland (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) have donated £300 from their MICE (Members Improvement in the Community and Environment) funds to give a sheltered housing centre in Yeadon a much needed boost during the festive period. The money will be used to pay for activities for its elderly residents.

This is not the first time that Hanover House Social Club on Harper Lane has benefited from the support of local councillors. It relies on this type of donation to fund its activities, which include coach trips and Christmas events.

Councillor Graham Kirkland (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:

"For some people in the centre, this is the only Christmas treat they'll get and we are delighted to be able to help in this way. I have great admiration for the staff of Hanover House and all the effort they put in to making life that much more enjoyable and fun for the residents".
