Six figure revamp for Rothwell Sports Centre12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 17th May 2007 Council chiefs have given the green-light to a £520k investment to refurbish the wet side changing rooms at Rothwell Sports Centre. The six figure sum was agreed by the council's executive board following consultation with ward members and centre users. Rothwell councillor and executive board member Steve Smith has welcomed the decision. Councillor Steve Smith (Lib Dem, Rothwell) said "This is fantastic news. The revamp has been a long time coming. "Plans for the changing rooms include better disabled access, new showers, new family changing cubicles and a makeover for the sauna area. The walls, floors and ceilings will also be redone. I'm delighted because the wet side changing rooms were the one thing that let the centre down."
