Councillors pledge support to Headingley Development Trust12.00.00am GMT Thu 13th Mar 2008 Liberal Democrat councillors James Monaghan and Martin Hamilton (Headingley) have shown their commitment to the work of Headingley Development Trust by providing them with an extra £1,000 to support the Headingley in Bloom project. The project aims to make Headingley a greener place, with more plants and shrubs around the shopping and pedestrian areas, to make it a more pleasant place to visit. Cllr Martin Hamilton spoke of the scheme: "It is our hope that the Headingley in Bloom scheme will help transform the local area. Hopefully beautifying the streets through plants, shrubs and displays will encourage all residents to treat the local community with the respect it deserves. Headingley can be a really attractive place to live and this project will help ensure that it continues." Cllr James Monaghan added: "I am really pleased that we have been able to support this community led initiative. Hopefully we can now look forward to the spring and summer months to really see Headingley at its best."
