Recent figures show that Leeds has the resumed its upward growth, marking it out as a successful and popular city. Councillor Mark Harris (Lib Dem, Moortown) leader of the council said "These latest figures show that the population of Leeds has grown by 9,600 people over the last year, more than any other of England's core cities. "More people are coming to the city because this is simply a fantastic place to live. With its close proximity to the countryside, superb career opportunities, excellent links to the rest of the country and a bustling city-centre, Leeds is the complete package."
