New children's play-area set for Tinshill

10.47.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 15th Aug 2006

Parents and children in Tinshill can look forward to the prospect of a new £60k play area opening early next spring. Subject to planning permission, the play area is to be built on the land that lies between Woodnook Road, Silk Mill Close and Silk Mill Bank. Funded by the North West Inner Area Committee, the play area will consist of a see-saw, swings, toddler slide, roundabout and two rocking toys. Local Councillor and Area Committee member Sue Bentley has welcomed the plans.

Councillor Sue Bentley (Lib Dem, Weetwood) said, "I am very happy with the plans as there are no play areas for children north of the Ring Road in Weetwood. I hope this will be the beginning of getting more play areas for young children in the ward.

Councillor Bentley added, "Cllr Judith Chapman and I are now planning to get a multi- use games area for the older children in the area."
