Councillor responds to grass cutting claims

7.26.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 31st May 2006

Lib Dem Councillor Ryk Downes has commented on concerns that have been raised by a local Town Councillor about an alleged lack of grass cutting in Otley.

Councillor Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said "Despite these allegations, so far no member of the public has brought the issue of overgrown grass to my attention. However, in response to these claims I have driven around Otley and noticed that there are a few isolated pockets of tall grass that need cutting back. I have reported these locations to the relevant council department, who have assured me that they will address this problem as soon as possible. "

Councillor Downes added "I would stress that if any resident's are worried about grass cutting in the area then they should get in contact with me and I'll address their concerns as a matter of urgency."
