10.11.27am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 10th Aug 2005

Local Lib Dem Cllr Penny Ewens witnessed a stunning performance by local youngsters in Fairytales From The Streets, a contemporary take on the children's fables set in Leeds' Little London. The cast, made up of 11 - 19 year olds from the area were coached by Chantelle Davis, Sophina Maynard and Nkem Emenike (LS7 Results) who strove to incorporate modern youth's social realities i.e street life into the production. The result was an explosion of dance, drama and song with an urban edge that wowed crowds during its 3 night run.

Cllr Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said "Little London is rapidly establishing itself as hotbed for creative youth activity. Fairytales From The Streets is a superb example of how a creative idea can come to fruition through the passion and hard work of all involved. The depth of artistic talent on display was very impressive, LS7 Results deserve praise for being such a positive influence on the young people in the area."
