Work Gets Underway on Woodhouse Moor Fencing

1.09.42pm GMT Fri 15th Oct 2004

Local Liberal Democrat Councillors are delighted that a major refurbishment of Woodhouse Moor Park has begun, starting with the installation of a fence to keep motor vehicles off the park and on the road, where they should be. The Liberal Democrat Councillors in Headingley and Hyde Park & Woodhouse have lobbied for several years to get the improvements, which will be funded through a variety of sources.

Cllr Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Headingley) said "In order to make sure that the Park is safe for everyone, we have to stop the inconsiderate few who bring cars on to it. With the fence in place everyone will be able to enjoy the park without their enjoyment being ruined by thoughtless people".

Cllr Penny Ewens (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said "I'm really pleased that the fence is going up around the Moor. The park is a green oasis in our area that families, young people and the elderly all treasure, and this fence will help to keep it that way."

Cllr Mulholland added "Sadly the summer just gone was too wet for most people's liking. Let's hope we get better weather next year so that we can all enjoy the sunshine on Woodhouse Moor!".
