Christmas lights will shine out in Yeadon again this year thanks to a grant secured by Local Councillors.
An application has been made to the Council's North West (Outer) Area Committee for funding of £3,550 to ensure that the town is all lit up for Christmas.
Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem Otley & Yeadon) said:
"The Christmas lights on Yeadon High Street help attract local residents and visitors out into the town and encourage people to use our local shops to purchase Christmas goods and this offers a fantastic boost to our local economy."
Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:
"All the Yeadon Councillors will be supporting the application for funding for the festive lights as they bring a bit of Christmas cheer to our town. We nearly missed out on the Christmas lights last year after the Council took the decision to only fund lighting in the city centre. So this year we will be approving the funding early to secure some festive fun for our town centre."
Cllr Sandy Lay (Lib Dem Otley & Yeadon) said:
"These lights help brighten up the High Street on dark nights and this year we are hoping to organise a Switch On ceremony at the beginning of December to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. I hope that the funding is given the go ahead at the meeting on Monday so we can start preparing the town for the festive season for switch on in late November."
