Lib Dem Headingley councillor Martin Hamilton has voiced frustration at the slow pace at which garden waste collections are being introduced in Headingley.
Administration councillors pledged earlier in the year that brown bins would be introduced to all homes with gardens in Headingley who want one.
But Cllr Hamilton was disappointed to discover that only three streets will get garden waste collections in the current phase - Balbec Avenue, Buckingham Grove and Grosvenor Mount.
Cllr Hamilton will be meeting with officers in charge of the service on Monday 23rd July to discuss the matter.
Cllr Martin Hamilton (Lib Dem, Headingley) said:
"We were recently promised that all homes with gardens in Headingley would receive brown bin collections if they wanted them. So I was really disappointed to find out that only three streets are to get them in the current phase.
"I am due to meet the council officers in charge of the service next week and I hope this will lead to progress on this issue.
"I strongly support more recycling for Headingley and I think there is huge untapped potential for garden waste collections in the area. Lots of residents have told me it's a real priority for them.
"Unfortunately it seems that the administration's actions don't match up to its rhetoric in this area."
