A raft of improvements are planned over the next 12 months at Yeadon Tarn in a bid to improve facilities for its users.
The concrete launching area at the southernmost corner of the tarn adjacent to the sailing club is to be widened and the area underwater modified to ease the launching of crafts.
The wooden jetty at the spillway end of the tarn will also be replaced. These works follow a series of other water safety improvements made to the tarn in recent years.
The timing and scale of the works will be undertaken in consultation with all groups that may be affected by them and any disruption will be kept to a minimum. The total cost of the planned works is £16,200.
Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:
"A lot of money has been spent on improving safety at the Tarn and rightly so. It is a beautiful area and is well used by local people. Finding out we are to get this extra money is a welcome surprise. I know the sailing club will be delighted with these improvements."
