£ £
Yarnbury Rugby and Rugby Football Club in Horsforth are to receive a much needed £5,000 from local councillors to help refurbish part of their clubhouse.
Yarnbury has over 200 junior players, many who go to school locally. They work with local schools, colleges and community groups. Their clubhouse has two lounge rooms, the largest is used by charities to hold fundraising events. The club also has a smaller lounge but this is currently not in use as it is in need of decoration.
Despite club members working hard to raise funds to redecorate the small lounge there was a £5,000 shortfall for the project. This has been picked up by the north west outer area committee's well-being fund.
Cllr Chris Townsley,(Lib Dem, Horsforth and chair of the north west outer area committee) said:
"This club is very well used by the community for all kinds of events throughout the year. They currently have a large function room which I have booked out for my 40th wedding anniversary. Getting the smaller lounge redecorated is of major importance for the club. They will be able to gain some much needed revenue from hiring out the new room.
"Members have done incredibly well to raise the money. We are pleased to provide support so work can be completed during the off season."
