Councillors have donated £1,000 towards this year's Headingley LitFest which kicks off next week.
The third Headingley LitFest runs from Tuesday 16th to Saturday 27th March 2010, the theme this year is A Sense of Place. £500 from the inner north west area committee's well-being fund and £500 from the Headingley and Weetwood councillors' MICE money have contributed to the twelve day festival run by a group of dedicated volunteers.
The festival begins on the 16th March with storytelling and an Italian supper with Mark 'Snowboy' Cotgrove at 8 pm, Salvo's Salumeria, Otley Road.
There will be lots of events including book readings and a literary walk, the headine act is David Peace (author of The Damned United) who will be reading extracts and answering questions about two of his novels Occupied City and GB84 on the 27th March at 3pm, New Headingley Club, St Michael's Road.
Cllr Martin Hamilton (Lib Dem, Headingley) said:
"The volunteers who have been working on organising this have been doing a fantastic job. The intimacy and diversity of the venues and activities make this an extremely unique event. I'm looking forward to attending this year."
