Headingley library staff and readers are set to welcome a new collection on to their shelves thanks to a £1,000 donation from councillors.
Headingley councillors have donated £1,000 of their MICE money for a new collection of books, soon to be unveiled at Headingley Library. The Library will be holding a special coffee morning next Saturday, 30 January, to celebrate the arrival of the new collection entitled 'New Year Treats'. The collection will be made up of both classic and popular novels for adults and children, all are invited to come and view the collection and choose their favourite books to borrow.
This event will also mark the start of National Storytelling Week (30th Jan - 5th Feb).
Cllr Martin Hamilton (Lib Dem, Headingley) said:
"We are really looking forward to visiting the library and meeting everyone. I know that many people enjoy going and taking part in the readers groups. Libraries are a great local resource and have become more popular recently, these extra books will give the library a boost and help them to meet the increased demand."
