Residents of Scargill Close in Burmantofts are to get a set of alleygates after complaining about anti-social behaviour and young people smoking outside their homes.
Three Victorian-style alleygates and matching railings are to be installed at each end of the close. The cost of the project and future maintenance will be paid for by the East (Inner) Area Committee at a cost of £4,500.
Cllr David Hollingsworth (Lib Dem, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill) said:.
"People have a right to go in and out of their homes without fear and intimidation, they certainly shouldn't have to walk through clouds of cigarette smoke.
"These new alleygates will provide reassurance to local residents. They will help us tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, which is a key priority for our area committee."
