The people of Headingley are being invited to have their say on how parking in the area could be improved.
A comprehensive set of surveys were completed in Headingley late last year, which provided detailed information about parking in the district centre.
This included surveys of the car parks, on-street parking in the centre and residential areas, as well as a questionnaire asking people how they travel and whether they consider parking to be an important issue.
Feedback on these findings is now needed so that plans for a parking strategy for Headingley can be developed. The purpose of the strategy will be to help better manage parking in Headingley centre for shoppers, commuters, residents, visitors and businesses.
Staff from Leeds City Council and Mouchel, the consultants for the strategy, will be on hand at two public involvement events to be held in Headingley Library on Friday 16th October, 12noon - 6pm and Saturday 17th October, 10am - 4pm to hear your views. Information from recent surveys will be on show along with leaflets detailing the problems.
Residents can also complete the online feedback form which will be made available from Wednesday 13th October until Friday 13th November 2009.
Cllr Martin Hamilton (Lib Dem, Headingley) said:
"I would like to encourage as many local residents as possible to come along and discuss their views of parking in Headingley centre.
"We want residents to get involved and have their say as their feedback will be used to develop a new parking strategy. It's about finding a solution that best suits the people of Headingley."
Online responses can be made at www.leeds.gov.uk/headingleyparkingstrategy.
