Cllr Richard Brett, Leader of Leeds City Council has welcomed the news that Leeds station is to get a hub for cyclists
It is one of ten stations to share in a £5 million pot from central government to build the hubs. The hub will include secure storage, maintenance facilities and a bike hire service. The scheme is expected to take two years to complete.
Cllr Brett (Lib Dem, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill) said:
"Cycling makes people healthier, reduces carbon emissions and lowers congestion on our roads. It is a key part of our plans for greener transport in Leeds.
"This new scheme from the government is therefore very welcome. It will do a lot to encourage more people to cycle into the city before catching their train."
