Residents of Woodhouse Carr are set to receive recycling facilities in September.
The area, which is bounded by Woodhouse Street, Hartley Avenue and Melville Road, has a large number of university students living in it, along with longer term residents.
The bins will be installed the week before the students return from summer holidays.
Publicity will be sent with the bins to help people remember their collection days and what can go in their new green bin.
Cllr Penny Ewens (Liberal Democrat, Hyde Park and Woodhouse) said:
"I know there are plenty of residents in the area who are very keen to do more to help the environment so I am sure the new collections will be warmly welcomed."
Cllr James Monaghan (Liberal Democrat, Headingley) Executive Member for Environmental Services said:
"Recycling rates in Leeds reached a new record of 38% in July. But we are committed to making collection services available to more residents and pushing this figure even higher."
