Harehills Park is to get a revamp to its existing play area thanks to a £91,000 grant from The Big Lottery Fund.
The money will be used to revamp the existing play area which is in need of new equipment. This money along with the £45,000 earmarked for Gipton Square will be a great boost for the community.
A consultation session will be held at Harehills Park on August 20th 1:00pm - 3:00pm where residents can get involved in the design of the play area. This initial meeting will help to get an idea of local needs, there will be play sessions for children and a questionnaire for adults.
The final cost of the regeneration will depend on what equipment residents want. If people in the area want to relocate the play area to a different place in the park the costs could be considerably higher.
Cllr Alan Taylor (Lib Dem, Gipton and Harehills, Lead Member for Leisure) said:
"I am extremely pleased that we have got this funding for our area. I'm sure these plans will be welcomed by local residents who I hope will attend the consultation session on Thursday.
"Every community should have open space where it is safe for their children to play. I am confident that with this funding and local support we can have play spaces to be proud of. I would strongly urge people to get involved."
