Work has started to make Bayton Lane and its approach Brownberrie Lane in Horsforth safer for motorists.
New signage is being installed to warn motorists of the danger, this will have bright yellow backgrounds and be on both sides of the roadway. The junction itself will have re-aligned road surface markings to further help indicate a junction.
The Bayton Lane - Brownberrie junction has been a cause for concern for councillors and local residents for a number of years. A large number of accidents have occurred on the lane resulting in damage to vehicles and injuries to passengers.
Cllr Brian Cleasby (Lib Dem, Horsforth) said:
"Not only is it good news that the centre line of the road is being reinstated we are getting improved signage in the area. These improvements should make the junction with Brownberrie Lane a lot safer.
"There have been a large number of collisions in recent years. Thankfully there have been few serious injuries. These changes should stop minor injuries and damages to vehicles and hopefully wipe out the risk of serious collisions."
