Carr Manor High School is to receive a grant for £12,000 from their local councillor's ward based initiative fund.
The grant is to be used to provide additional outdoor sheltered seating and much needed storage space. Plans are being drawn up for a large canopy / umbrella seating area and additional storage for mountain bikes that are used on PE days and residentials.
Councillor Richard Harker (Lib Dem, Moortown) Executive Member for Learning said:
"As ward councillors we all agreed that the space was needed due to increased pupil numbers. These changes will greatly improve the school environment, providing an attractive feature and more space for children to eat outside. We look forward to seeing the project once it's completed."
Carr Manor High School is a popular choice for local families and as pupil numbers continue to increase, additional seating and storage is very much welcomed.
Simon Flowers, Headteacher commented:
"The additional seating in particular will greatly benefit our pupils who already enjoy the outdoor social space in the Forum area. The additional storage area is also very much appreciated, as a Specialist Sports College we provide a range of sporting activities for our pupils and the additional space for PE equipment will be very useful."
