The popular garden waste collection service will be rolled out to more properties in the Gipton area in time for the peak summer months.
The planned route will include most properties surrounding Wykebeck Primary School and the nearby playing fields. Letters will be sent to households eligible for the scheme with more details and those not wanting a new brown bin getting the chance to opt-out.
The first collection is scheduled for July 20th 2009 and the bins will be delivered week commencing July 13th 2009. Bins will be emptied every two weeks until December and every month until March.
Cllr Alan Taylor (Lib Dem, Gipton and Harehills) said:
"I hope everyone who is offered a brown bin decides to take part in the scheme. This is a great opportunity for everyone to get out in their gardens and enjoy the glorious weather as well as doing their bit for the environment.".
