Cllr Brenda Lancaster will be hoping to get all party support for an event in Leeds to help celebrate Armed Forces Day on the 27th June.
This year will be the first year that a national Armed Forces Day will be held to honor all UK's service personnel, past, present and future. The main event is to be held at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, Kent, but hundreds of smaller events are being planned around the country.
Leeds is hoping to have its own event in conjunction with local veteran's organisations and charities.
Cllr Brenda Lancaster who set up the first Regional Veterans Forum in the country is keen to get the go - ahead at this Wednesday's Full Council meeting.
Cllr Brenda Lancaster (Lib Dem, Moortown) said:
"We are currently working hard to secure a venue for this event. It will be a great opportunity for everyone to come together and support those soldiers who are currently serving abroad, as well as paying tribute to those who have served in the past and who will do so in the future.
"I hope that our local schools will get involved and plan activities supporting what is happening in Leeds and around the country."
