Cllr Andrew Barker will soon make history by being the third currently serving Horsforth councillor to be inaugurated into the mayoral office.

Cllr Andrew Barker is set to take up the post as deputy mayor for 2009/10. Fellow Horsforth Lib Dem councillors include two former mayors Chris Townsley 2004/5 and Brian Cleasby 2007/8, with This latest announcement makes history as it will be the first time that three sitting ward councillors have served in the office.
Cllr Andrew Barker said:
"I am delighted that Councillor Elliot has nominated me to be her deputy mayor. This a landmark year as the mayor and deputy are from different political groups. Also Horsforth will now have had all three of their serving councillors in the mayoral office."
Cllr Chris Townsley added:
"This is a great opportunity for Andrew I am sure he will prove himself to be a fantastic deputy mayor. I'm sure everyone in Horsforth will be proud of our achievements, it is great news for our town."
