£ £
Four schools in Rothwell will benefit from a cash injection to help improve their facilities.
Rothwell Victoria Junior School, Rothwell Haigh Road Infants, Rothwell CE Primary and Royds School Specialist Language College will each get a share of a £90,000 pot paid for by the developers of new housing in the Wood Lane area.
The extra money will help to pay for a range of improvements to special educational needs, the creation of a computer bay and additional IT equipment, to update heating systems as well as general works to improve fire safety and refurbish existing kitchen and dining areas.
Cllr Stewart Golton (Lib Dem, Rothwell) said:
"These funds will be a welcome boost for local children who will benefit from better facilities to help improve their learning. Recent housing developments in the Wood Lane area means this money will help schools cope with the increased demand "
Cllr Donald Wilson (Lib Dem, Rothwell) said:
"We have been battling for five years to get this funding for our local schools, at one point we thought the money was going to be lost altogether. These extra funds will provide a valuable addition to the current improvements in these schools. We all look forward to seeing the end results."
