Plans to introduce dropped kerbs along Green Lane in Yeadon have been welcomed by Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon). The proposals have come about because of a request from local disability group DREAM.
It is hoped that the work will be carried out next month to provide 13 new dropped kerbs in the area. These will benefit wheelchair users in particular providing them with an easy route along Green Lane into Yeadon town centre. They will also improve access to the Yeadon Medical Centre.
The scheme is one of 15 planned across the city at an estimated cost of £400,000 to help disabled people gain access to local shops and services. All works have been planned at the request of local residents and ward councillors.
Cllr Colin Campbell said:
"I am very pleased that this funding has reached our ward. The DREAM disability group did a great job of lobbying to get the kerbs. I think this is a great example of democracy in action."
