Local councillors are doing their bit to help protect the Engine Field Nature area in Yeadon. Members of the North West Outer Area Committee have agreed to pay £5,920 towards the cost of three new pedestrian gates.
The gates are designed specifically to let people in but make it difficult for motor bikes and horses to enter the site.
Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:
"Recently much of the good work in the area has been destroyed by thoughtless individuals with horses or motor bikes. The new gates will allow people into the nature area but should make it more difficult for inappropriate activities on the site.
"I would like to pay tribute to the Friends of Engine Fields, they are a hard working voluntary group who have done a great deal to improve the area".
