West Yorkshire Police Authority board member Cllr Brenda Lancaster (Lib Dem, Moortown) attended the launch of a new police pledge in Crossgates yesterday.
Local neighbourhood police officers in North East Leeds came together at The Crossgates Centre, Crossgates to launch the Police Pledge, part of the Police and Communities Together (PACT) initiative.
Members of the Cross Gates, Whinmoor and Temple Newsam Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were on hand along with community wardens and the local Community Crime Fighter Joanne Binns.
The Pledge will build on strong partnerships between the police and the local community and clearly sets out the minimum standards of service people can expect from West Yorkshire Police. Each local policing team will be adding three additional pledges tailored to their neighbourhoods to be agreed at PACT meetings due to take place in the next few weeks.
Members of the public were given the opportunity to discuss local issues and were asked to identify their main concerns.
West Yorkshire Police Authority board member Cllr Brenda Lancaster was there to lend a hand helping to advise local residents and discuss the initiative with local police officers, communities support officers and wardens.
Cllr Brenda Lancaster said:
"I was delighted to hear about the plans going on in the area. The Neighbourhood Policing Teams are a vital local resource. I hope people will contact their local team with any concerns and ideas, as well as attend one of the many meetings that will be going on in the next few weeks."
