Liberal Democrat Councillor Linda Rhodes-Clayton has called on the public to show their generosity in these troubling times by supporting the work of St Georges Crypt.
St Georges Crypt provides a much needed service to rough sleepers, asylum seekers and refugees. As a charity they are dependent upon fund raising, financial support and contributions.
Councillor Rhodes-Clayton has now called on members of the public to donate sleeping bags and bedding to help rough sleepers during the difficult weather.
Speaking of the crypt Councillor Rhodes-Clayton said:
"St Georges Crypt is an essential life-line for many rough sleepers in Leeds. During this awful weather many need sleeping bags and bedding to keep them warm throughout the night. I ask anybody that can offer any support to come to the crypt and drop off whatever they can afford."
Martin Patterson, Fundraising Director at the Crypt added:
"St Georges Crypt is grateful to Cllr Rhodes-Clayton for showing commitment in this initiative and responding to the plight of homeless people. The Crypt is delighted to be working in the Woodhouse area whilst the original site is being refurbished. Thank you to Councillor Rhodes-Clayton for the commitment and support. This will be of great benefit as we take our work forward."
