The popular park in Otley is due to have new facilities up and running by March.
Work is due to start on Monday 2nd February on new toilet facilities for Wharfemeadows Park in Otley and will take around five weeks to complete. The new toilets will be built inside the cafe and will become the responsibility of the cafe lease holder.
Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) commented:
"These new facilities address the long term problem of vandalism in the existing toilet block. The old toilets have often been closed for long periods to be repaired. Many people have told me they do not feel safe using the existing toilet block and it suffers from graffiti.
"We now have a sensible solution to provide toilets for the users of Wharfemeadows Park. We hope the work can be done in the winter months before the busy season."
