An organisation helping people in Burmantofts and Richmond Hill with debt problems has received a funding boost from local councillors.
Councillors David Hollingsworth, Richard Brett and Ralph Pryke (Liberal Democrat, Burmantofts and Richmond Hill) have given a cash grant of £450 to Ebor Gardens Advice Centre's debt advisory service.
They hope that the service will be of particular value to residents feeling the pinch from the knock on effects of the credit crunch.
Cllr Hollingsworth said:
"Ebor Gardens Advice Centre performs a tremendous service to local families in inner city East Leeds and they offer help on a wide range of issues.
"Their debt advisory service is of particular value at a time of rapidly rising household costs and the spectre of unmanageable debt looming large for many families.
"My ward colleagues and I firmly believe that this organisation greatly deserves extra funding at a time when its services will be in particular demand.
"I would urge anyone in the area finding their debts becoming unaffordable to get in touch with the advice centre. They have experts on hand who can offer practical advice on your circumstances."
