Harehills Lib Dem councillor Alan Taylor has welcomed plans to increase the capacity at a popular local primary school .
A report to Leeds City Council's Executive Board proposes increasing the capacity of the school by 50 percent, from 60 new places per year to 90.
Public consultation has already been carried out on the proposals, the results of which were published in September last year.
Cllr Alan Taylor (Lib Dem, Gipton and Harehills) said:
"Harehills primary has proven to be an increasingly popular school in recent years and I welcome the decision to expand the school in order to meet the high demand for places."
"For the past two years the school has taken on an additional reception form so we will really be making this arrangement permanent. We will be able to ensure that local children are able to get into the school closest to where they live without increasing class sizes."
