Local councillors and residents enjoyed good weather and outdoor fun at the opening of the new play facility
Local councillors Sue Bentley, Judith Chapman and newly elected Ben Chastney joined a crowd of revellers and Greg Mulholland MP to officially open the new play and recreation area in Tinshill.
An impressive number of children and families turned up, doubtless encouraged by the good weather, and they were soon thronging onto the swings, roundabout and other play equipment. Not, however, before the Leeds West MP and local councillors had a go!
Highlights of the event included street dancers and basketball.
Councillor Judith Chapman (Lib Dem, Weetwood), commented:
"The opening was a tremendous success. Everybody had a fantastic time and it is lovely to see children having fun and enjoying the new facilities.
"I am especially pleased that the event was so well attended. It is a fitting reward for the hard work we have put in over the past four years. It has been a real community effort. "
Councillor Sue Bentley (Lib Dem, Weetwood), who delivered a speech at the opening on Thursday, is also pleased with the new facilities:
"The play area represents a real opportunity for local children to get involved in sports and other activities.
"This is a very valuable investment in both our community and our children's futures. "
