Cllr Alan Taylor
Councillor Alan Taylor is attempting to bring a new and calming perspective to the cemeteries debate in his new role as lead member for leisure on Leeds City Council.
Councillor the Reverend Alan Taylor said (Lib Dem, Gipton & Harehills) "In my line of work dealing with the bereaved and the practicalities of a funeral are two aspects of cemetery provision I am very familiar with. I hope to be able to bring to the discussions an emphasis on the need to accommodate religious practice of whatever denomination. I am pleased that this administration has already gone some way to meeting the needs of those faiths requiring a prompt burial by extending opening times.
Councillor Taylor added, "Now we must look at the needs of all communities, religious and otherwise, to ensure that this issue is dealt with sensitively, practically and in a timely manner."
