Headingley fish and seafood restaurant Bryan's has donated £500 towards Weetwood Primary School's fund for a new greenhouse.
Bryan's Managing Director Sue Bray presented the cheque to Headteacher Tarsem Wyatt and two Year 5 pupils at a school assembly.
Bryan's have further emphasised their green credentials by locating three large recycling bins in their customer car park.
Local councillors Sue Bentley and Judith Chapman, who also donated money towards the school's greenhouse appeal, have welcomed Bryan's community-centred approach.
Councillor Sue Bentley (Lib Dem, Weetwood) said, "Bryan's are setting a great example to other local businesses by putting something back into the community. This latest donation follows on from Sue Bray suggesting that there be recycling bins in Bryan's car park. The bins are a great location for people wanting to drop their recyclable waste and have proved a big hit so far."
Councillor Judith Chapman (Lib Dem, Weetwood) added, "The recycling bins have been in place since January and the average tonnage for the glass bins alone is 1.5 tonnes per month. It's so refreshing to see a high-profile business taking responsibility for their local environment and engaging with the wider community."
