Local councillor Richard Brett has paid a visit to a new fruit and veg stall in the heart of Richmond Hill, East Leeds. The Zest stall was launched last week by the Healthy Living charity and is located in the Richmond Hill Community Centre on Long Close Lane. Taking place every Tuesday morning, the market has been proving a big hit with local residents - keen to take advantage of the stall's bargain-basement prices.
Councillor Richard Brett (Lib Dem, Burmantofts & Richmond Hill) said, "The fruit and veg stall is a superb idea and it has been a real success in the two weeks its been up and running. The offer of fresh fruit and veg at wholesale prices is proving a big draw for local residents. When I visited the stall this Tuesday, the place was bustling and the range of produce on offer was excellent.
"The decision to locate the stall in the heart of community is a huge boost for people here, as there are no shops in the Richmond Hill area that sell fresh fruit and veg. Many residents face a trek to the city centre markets or Hunslet if they want fresh goods. I would urge as many people as possible to come along to the stall and take advantage of these fantastic offers."
