August 10, 2006 11:17 PM

Leeds City Councillor's Javaid Akhtar (Gipton & Harehills) and Kabeer Hussain (Hyde Park & Woodhouse) are to meet delegates from the Muslim Council of Britain when they arrive in Leeds this Friday. The MCB are in the city in full force to meet the community and particularly community leaders.

Headed by Dr Muhammed Abdul Bari the new Secretary General and accompanied by Dr Iqbal Sacranie, the delegation will spend the whole day in Leeds. The delegation will be meeting community leaders and prominent members of the community at the Banqueting Hall, Civic Hall, Leeds on Friday from 3pm to 6pm.

Councillor Javaid Akhtar, Chair of the Liberal Democrat Council Group said, "Both Councillor Hussain and I welcome the Muslim Council of Britain making the effort to come and talk directly to community leaders from across the city, to hear for themselves what is happening here in Leeds. The Council plays an important role in the lives of the Muslim population and perhaps now more than ever they need to listen to voices from all sections of the community."
