The fight against crime and anti-social behaviour in Otley and Yeadon received a lift today with the news that thanks to Leeds City Council, the area is to get another Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). Additional PCSOs were funded last year by the Lib Dem/Conservative/Green run Leeds City Council and proved so successful that the decision has been taken to provide an extra one in each ward of the city.
Cllr Ryk Downes, (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) welcomed the news:
Areas like Otley and Yeadon are often forgotten in the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour but people need to remember that we have our problems just like the inner city.
I am therefore absolutely delighted that we will be getting an extra PCSO to help the work of the police in our area.
A visible police presence is one of the most effective ways of restoring confidence in our communities and PCSOs have so far proved extremely popular with residents. It is satisfying to see that the administration has shown it is in touch with people's priorities and is investing in services that matter to people right across Leeds and not just in the inner city."
