Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) is delighted that Leeds City Council is set to invest £280,000 to clean up the major routes into the City Centre over the next 12 months, with the A660 through Otley up to the Dyneley Arms targeted as one of the stretches of road to receive extra attention. The aim is to improve the image of Leeds and the local environment for both the residents and visitors to the city. A cleaning hit squad will be out and about trimming hedges and grass verges, digging out weeds and removing every piece of litter and fly-tipped waste at the side of the road. All rubbish collected by the team will be recycled.
Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said "This is very welcome news. It's a direct response to concerns raised by local residents about the state of some of the main routes into Leeds. This shows that we are listening to what people are saying to us and are willing to put in the resources needed to deal with the issues raised."
"These plans are part of a series of measures that the ruling Liberal Democrat/Green/Conservative administration are putting in place for the coming year that will bring real benefits to Otley and Yeadon."
