Budding footballers in inner city Leeds are set to receive a much needed £500 cash boost. The Hyde Park Rangers are a local team open to anyone over the age of sixteen. With upwards of 25 members from a range of ethnic backgrounds, the Rangers are currently in need of help with costs for training and equipment. Local Councillors Linda Rhodes-Clayton and Kabeer Hussain have provided the funding to help promote education through sport.
Cllr Rhodes Clayton (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) said "The Hyde Park Rangers provide an important outlet for the local community. Helping to provide proper facilities and equipment will undoubtedly be a big boost for the team. Teamwork, self confidence and discipline are just some of the benefits for those taking part"
Cllr Kabeer Hussain (Lib Dem, Hyde Park & Woodhouse) added "The appeal of the Rangers is right across the cultural boundaries. People of all backgrounds come down to get involved and train. Let's hope the Rangers can kick on from here."
