Plans for a 10m high phone mast on Leeds Road, Oulton have been rejected by Council planners. The planning application, submitted by T Mobile, was refused despite the mobile giant's attempt to appeal the decision. Rothwell Councillor Steve Smith has welcomed the news due to the sensitive location of the proposed mast.
Councillor Steve Smith (Lib Dem, Rothwell) said, "The proposed mast site was in close proximity to the greenspace of Springhead Park. With a major revamp of the park on the horizon it would have been a travesty to allow this application to go through. The impact on the park's appearance would have been too great. Both my ward colleagues and I are delighted that this application has been refused. "
Note to Editors:
1. The proposed application was for 10m high telegraph pole type mast with 3 antennae and detached equipment cabin.
