Two popular sports centres in Rothwell and Oulton are to receive a six figure cash injection for refurbishments and new changing rooms. Both the Oulton and Woodlesford Sports Club and the Rose Lund Centre, Rothwell are to receive £130k to boost their facilities. The funding for the projects comes from a range of sources unearthed by local Councillors Don Wilson, Steve Smith and Mitchell Galdas. With work due to begin this spring Councillor Don Wilson has expressed his delight that the schemes are going ahead.
Councillor Don Wilson (Lib Dem, Rothwell) said "Both my ward colleagues and I have worked extremely hard to secure the funding for these projects. I am delighted that the people of Rothwell, Oulton and Woodlesford will have improved facilities for their sporting activities. There is a huge demand for the facilities at both the Oulton and Woodlesford Sports Club and the Rose Lund Centre. Both centres attract people of all ages, including children as young as five and its great to see them getting involved from such an early age."
Councillor Steve Smith (Lib Dem, Rothwell) added, "Hopefully this is just the start of the developments. We will continue to look for funding from all available sources. Positive outlets such as Oulton and Woodlesford Sports Club and the Rose Lund Centre are of massive benefit to the local community."
